RELOCATION PROGRAM
Relocation – The first step towards a new life
Moving to a new house can be both daunting and exciting, if that house is in another country, the process can quickly become difficult to handle… unelss you are part of our program.
We have an amazing partner in June Persson from RelocationZealand. June is a master of Relocation, having worked in the field for almost 20 years. Being a former expat herself, she knows what it means to move to a new country. June will assist you with all the practical aspects relating to your relocation to Denmark and starting your new life.
What help can I expect?
Excellent question! Each relocation process is unique and as such, there will always be differences in what your specific case requires. However, there are a few staples that will always be part of the process.
- Registration – When you arrive in Denmark you will need to register. This includes getting a CPR number and an EU residence permit. June requests the documentation she needs from you beforehand and take care of all the preparations. She will then take you by the hand and get you properly registered at the international house in Copenhagen.
- Housing - You need a place to live when you get here, and that can be difficult when you are hundreds- if not thousands of kilometres away. But fear not, June will assist in your search for a new home and if you find one you really like, she will help to scout it out and possibly show it to you live on video. Should you lack furniture, she will also assist you in finding what you need. She will also assist with insurance, phone, internet and utilities. You are in safe hands.
- Banking – You also need a Danish bank account; this will also be set up for you by June.
- Schools/Institutions – If you have children that need to start in an institution, school, day-care or otherwise. June will assist you in finding the right fit for your child in the area where you live.
- Taxation – June will help set up your initial tax card. HOWEVER! and this is important, neither June nor we are tax advisers, we know some basics and some very specific tax elements that we have come across. If you have investments or own property in your home country, you will need to invest some personal time to learn what that means for you taxation in Denmark or contact the Danish tax authorities (SKAT).
- Authorisation – We can assist you in your application process to the best of our ability. In cases where there might be an issue or difficulty, we will happily assist by creating a power of attorney that allows us to take direct contact with the case workers and figure out solutions. You are never alone, if the need arises we will step in.
- General Advice – We have done this for a long time. We have seen many different scenarios, and we are always willing to share that knowledge. If you have a concern or question, never hesitate to ask.
Financial Support
Outside of our administrative assistance, Region Zealand also provides different means of financial support.
- Authorisation reimbursement – If you apply for your authorisation while in our program, we will reimburse you for the cost.
- Translations – Should you need to have documents translated for your authorisation; we will also reimburse you for the cost of the translation.
- Relocation contribution – Region Zealand will provide you with between 25-30.000 DKK as a help towards moving cost. The payment will be received with your first paycheck, however, due to regulations, the amount will be taxed alongside your normal salary.
- Loan towards deposit - In Denmark it is common practice to pay up to three months deposit as well as up to one month’s advance payment of rent when renting a new apartment or house. To help mitigate the initial cost, Region Zealand offers a 12-month, interest-free loan to help cover the initial cost. The loan can be started when you have settled in, usually after a month or two.
Our goal is to take away as much of the stress of moving to a new country as possible. Watch the video below to hear what some of our candidates have to say about our relocation process.
